About the Trainer

Carrie Faber-Johnston, MS, CYNX-L has a passion for dog raising and training through the lens of cognitive ethology and with a psychology approach to ensure every dog she works with is biologically fulfilled physical, intellectually, and emotionally. During her training programs, Carrie focuses on strengthening your relationship with your dog, while also improving their livelihood.

Carrie grew up in the mountains of Truckee, CA where she cared for a variety of pets including dogs, birds, cats, chinchillas, rats, and horses. From ages 11 to 19, she raised 7 puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind which truly sparked her passion to continue her education, refine her skills, and one day run her own training business. In Newcastle, CA she specializes in sport dogs, pet dogs, and service dog training, as well as board and training puppies from ages 8 weeks to 12 months old. The primary focus for the "raise and learn" program is on socialization, crate training, potty training, house manners, car rides, leash walking, grasping the "learning to learn" concept, along with basic obedience.

Carrie attended Bergin University of Canine Studies, graduating with an AS in Assistance Dog Education, a BS in Cynology (Canine Studies), MS in Human-Canine Life Sciencesand a certificate from completing the Dogs Helping Veterans (DHV) program.

Completing dog training workshops/seminars/certificate programs is a passion and hobby of hers. Continuing education to learn from as many different perspectives as possible allows for trainers to pick and choose the most efficient, up-to-date, and humane methods possible. A healthy bond and relationship is imperative to move forward with progress, which includes continuing education in all aspects of the canine field for the humans.

In late 2021 and early 2022, Carrie attended and graduated from Nepopo® Silver & Gold school instructed by Bart and Michael Bellon, a world renowned school & community excelling in dog education. The methodology aims to be the best dog training system where a dog will always react on cue and with heart & soul.

In 2023 she attended the first ever offered Cynopraxic and LIMA Principles certification course, earning her certificate and CYNX-L title at the International Association of Canine Professionals educational conference in Minneapolis, MN.
